McCain's basic platform

McCain

#1- Abortion- He is Pro-life. He believes that Abortion should be illegal in order to support our future, our children, because adoption is always a choice.

#2- Education-“Excellence, choice, and competition in American education. John McCain believes American education must be worthy of the promise we make to our children and ourselves. #3- Death Penalty-For federal crimes, John McCain agrees the Death Penalty. It makes others and them stop and think before they do something so bad that they could lose their own life.

#4- Environment-He is for alternative forms of energy, such as wind turbines. He also wants to cut our reliance on foreign oil.

#5- Health Care- “John McCain is willing to address the fundamental problem: the rapidly rising cost of U.S. health care. Bringing costs under control is the only way to stop the erosion of affordable health insurance, save Medicare and Medicaid, protect private health benefits for retirees, and allow our companies to effectively compete around the world.” From site: http://www.johnmccain.com/Informing/issues/

#6- Immigration-McCain believes that we should further secures our borders. He thinks that we already have too many Illegal aliens in our country. And he wants to stop that.

#7- Iraq War- McCain wants us to remain in Iraq until the government can withstand by itself. But until then we need to help them. That way there will be long-term peace. The troops can only return home once Iraq can safeguard their own country.

#8- Economy- John McCain wants to take long-term steps to improve the economy as well as short-term actions. Some long-term actions are things such as offshore drilling, which he is for. Some short-term actions are cutting capital gains tax.

#9- Poverty-McCain wants to increase the number of jobs in the US thereby decreasing the unemployment rate and decreasing poverty.

#10-Stem Cell Research-He is agrees with stem cell research, but I against the creation of human embryos. He thinks that it is unethical to create things but to research it in order to learn more is good.

Political Cartoon #1

Due to the current economic crisis the U.S. treasury is throwing billions of dollars into large corporation furthering the U.S. into a larger debt. For example, this cartoon depicts a man talking to McCain saying “Sir, you’ve got to get on top of this economic crisis…FAST! Before your running mate starts to field dress it.” This shows how Palin will ruin the economy even further, because she is young and inexperienced and thinks she is doing the right thing when actually she is making it worse. This cartoon also depicts Palin on top of a bull, representing the dead economy. This further shows how Palin thinks she is fixing the crisis, when in actuality she is just making it more of a mess. If we have a wrong political candidate doing the job incorrectly, then that makes the crisis works.

Political Cartoon #2

The current election is all about change, and how the candidates different from the “classical” presidents. For example, this cartoon shows an African-American boy saying how there is an “African-American in the race,” and a young girl saying that there is also a “dynamic woman” running. This shows how each party has something different about their parties. This cartoon also depicts a young boy saying “And the only white guys running have senior citizen discounts.” This further shows how the Republican Parties elected president has not changed, and remains the same stereotypes: male, elder, and white. John McCain fits these stereotypes for a president; therefore he is not getting as much as an advantage as Obama.
